Celebrating the Legacy: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Message in 2019
We like to think that Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of non-violent protest, social justice, change and equality for all continue today in 2019. We know that the importance of his contributions and the contributions of many influential African Americans who tirelessly advocated for equity continue to live on today. King's message of service certainly does.
Amplify celebrated the day of service by hosting a resource table alongside Generation Nation at the Levine Museum of the New South. The Levine hosts thought-provoking exhibits such as “Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers” and “Know Justice, Know Peace”, which both draw your eye to the changing south and the south that has remained the same all these years. It was an honor to serve the community in that space.
We were able to distribute 40 Civic Kits, added over 50 new members to the Amplify Charlotte community (email list) and connected with an estimated 2,000 youth and adults with our local government trivia game.
